Join the Memphis TOS chapter for its annual Fall Count at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park or Overton Park. Our trip leaders are Dick Preston and Margaret Jefferson. Check out recent and past eBird sightings at these hotspots here and here.
Meet Dick at 7:30 am on Saturday, September 10 at the Meeman-Shelby park office/visitor center parking lot, 910 Riddick Rd., Millington, TN 38053. Meet Margaret at the East Parkway parking area of Overton Park at 7:30. You can also bird anywhere in Shelby County that day and send your observations to email@example.com. Include observers’ names, locations birded, species, miles, and hours.
The park consists primarily of some 13,467 acres of upland and bottomland forests with miles of hiking trails and two lakes. It hosts one of the finest arrays of plant and animal life in Tennessee. A boat launch on the north end of the park accesses the Mississippi River.
