Dick Preston is our leader once again for the Memphis TOS chapter’s field trip to Fort Pillow State Historic Park and nearby Lower Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge. Check out recent and past eBird sightings at these birding hotspots here and here.

>>> IMPORTANT: Do not meet at the park. Meet at 7:30 am on Saturday, September 17 at the Alex Haley Rest Area, 7344 US Highway 51, Henning, TN 38041, just north of Covington. We will caravan from there.

The 1,642 acre Fort Pillow State Historic Park, located in Lauderdale County on the Chickasaw Bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, is rich in both historic and archaeological significance. The 9,000 acre Lower Hatchie NWR contains a variety of forested and non-forested habitats and impressive access to Mississippi River riverfront and sandbar habitats.

Contact Dick Preston for more information at or 901-837-3360.
