Join Memphis TOS for our traditional spring bird count at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. Dick Preston is our guide. See eBird sightings for this hotspot. You can also bird anywhere in Shelby County (including your own backyard) and contact compiler Dick Preston with location, species, number of individuals, and hours spend afield. Contact info below.
Meet at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8 at the park office/visitor center parking lot, 910 Riddick Rd., Millington, TN 38053. You don’t have to be a MTOS member to participate and be sure to bring binoculars.
The park consists primarily of some 13,467 acres of upland and bottomland forests with miles of hiking trails and two lakes. It hosts one of the finest arrays of plant and animal life in Tennessee. A boat launch on the north end of the park accesses the Mississippi River.
